August 27th 2017Back

Holidays are all about enjoyment and relaxation, whether it is about visiting family or simply experiencing change in weather. As exciting it may sound, sometimes, changing topographies, climates and seasons take a toll on us either during our vacation period or when are back.

KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre (KBMC) ensures that you are hale and hearty upon your return by way of a special screening package for dengue and malaria, mainly prevalent in tropical countries of Asia.  The package includes smear for Malaria, Dengue Test and Doctor Consultation.

Of late, the spread of dengue and malaria has heightened due to the rainy season in the Asian countries. Both are mosquito-borne diseases and can be life-threatening, in case not treated on time.

Briefly, dengue fever is a painful, mosquito-borne disease caused by any one of four closely related dengue viruses. Symptoms of Dengue usually begin four to six days after infection and may last up to 10 days. They may include sudden high fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, severe joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, which appears two to five days after the onset of fever, mild bleeding (such a nose bleed, bleeding gums, or easy bruising).

Malaria is another life-threatening disease. It’s typically transmitted through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito. Symptoms of malaria include shaking chills that can range from moderate to severe, high fever, profuse sweating, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, anemia, muscle pain, convulsions, coma, bloody stools, etc.

In order to facilitate dengue and malaria prevention, KBMC has developed a Post Vacation Package to check yourself. The Package includes Smear for Malaria, Dengue Test and Doctor Consultation for BHD 16. The Package is available till September 30, 2017.
